TERENGGANU - Gem of the East Coast
Situated on the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia, Terengganu is an ideal holiday destination. It has the longest coastline in the country, with stunning beautiful islands in the South China Sea, many of which are gazetted as Marine Parks. The state is characterised by a strong Malay culture, laid-back lifestyle, tranquil coastal towns and rustic villages. Kuala Terengganu is the capital city.
An enchanting holiday paradise, Redang Island offers breathtaking blue waters teeming with a wealth of marine life and corals. Perhentian Island, made up of the larger Perhentian Besar and smaller Perhentian Kecil, is an enchanting group of islands full of exciting activities for divers and sun-seekers. Go on a boat ride, swim, snorkel, dive or simply relax by the beachside cafés. The state has a tempting variety of local delicacies, as well as international cuisine.
Handicrafts and souvenirs are aplenty in this state. Visit the popular Pasar Payang and take your pick from fresh produced local snacks, handcrafted ornaments to traditional fabric such as Batik and Songket.
