SELANGOR - A Never-Ending Discovery
Selangor, the most developed state in Malaysia, is replete with an intriguing variety of tourist attractions. Touted as the gateway to Malaysia, the state is home to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), the country's main entry point and Port Klang, the country's largest sea port.
Being the richest and most urbanized, Selangor's economy is diversified with a good mix of agricultural, industrial, commercial and tourism activities. Sepang International Circuit, the venue of the annual Petronas Malaysian F1 Grand Prix, is one of the world's most challenging tracks and the only circuit in the world to provide a double-frontage grandstand area. The state is hailed as a shopper's paradise for its large number of shopping and entertainment establishments.
Most shopping malls serve as one-stop centres and are situated adjacent to theme parks and well-known hotels. The "Batu Caves" is a popular attraction especially during the annual Hindu festival, Thaipusam. The 272 steps leading to the temple is one of the highlights besides the 14-feet statue of Lord Muruga, which is reputed to be the tallest Hindu Statue in the world.
