SABAH - Land Below the Wind
Situated in East Malaysia, Sabah is replete with lush tropical rainforests and stunning tropical islands flowing with an incredible diversity of marine life. The 32 ethnic groups that make up the total population here provide the land with colourful and intriguing cultures.
Kota Kinabalu is the vibrant state capital and a gateway to eco-adventures such as diving, river cruising, mountain climbing, white water-rafting and caving. The majestic Mount Kinabalu, standing at 4,095.2m, is the highest peak in Malaysia. Its main attraction is the Kinabalu Park, Malaysia's first World Heritage Site, which contains one of the world's richest assemblage of plants.
For an excellent dive spot, head to the world-famous Sipadan Island. Its location, at the heart of the Indo Pacific Basin, makes it one of the richest marine habitats in the world. To shop for souvenirs, here is the place where splendid souvenirs including beads, the renowned Sabah pearls, accessories and bamboo products can be found.
